Gotchas Green Mountain is always packed, very exposed from a no trees and lots of sunlight perspective, and it pales in comparison to the great variety of trails we have in the front range.
Elevation at parking lot Around 6025ft
Trail description Green Mountain is usually the first trail open once spring arrives. It's also the only trail that a person can LEGALLY ride at night. It has some nice climbs and it's a good test of fitness. On the backside a rider can descend some terribly steep stuff and there is almost an endless mix of trails that a person could explore. Green Mountain is often referred to as a "beginner's trail". It gets this connotation not because it's easy aerobically, you could make a very strenuous ride out of it, but because of its lack of technical fun, lack of beautiful scenery, and the fact that a lot of beginners go there because they either don't know about the better front range trails, or they are intimidated by them. A nice ride for variety, but hit the other trails when possible.
Included trails Zorro - From the Rooney Road parking lot, you can cross Rooney Road going west and ride Zorro up the hogback to the Dakota Ridge trail. This opens you up to all new opportunities allowing you to connect with the Matthew Winters/Red Rocks trail and several other trails.

Every Wednesday evening during the summer we hit the trails in the Denver front range by mountain bike and usually go for food after. If you are a high-fun, low-drama individual then join the rides and join the fun!
