Hailing out of Michigan and new to the great state of Colorado, our newest team member is Shawn Meredith. Eager to put up some big miles in 2008, Shawn is already a stalwart member of the winter commuter crew, banging out some 25 miles of headlight and backpack duty each way. He's also a good sport about riding in all conditions as he joined Dave Nice and your interviewer extrodinarie for an all day, all terrain snow ride with Shawn tackling a snowpacked descent of Apex on cross tires. Plus we also learned he's quite amenable to gas station junk food lunches, endurance fuel of champions. Not one to let any of Colorado's goodies go to waste, he's also been doing pleny of snowboarding at the resorts when he's not riding. If you haven't met Shawn yet, or even if you have, checkout more about him below...

What is your birthdate? St. Patrick's Day, 1977 Do you have any nicknames? A few, but I will let you come up with your own. What's your favorite trail or ride? As I am still learning the CO trails, so I am sure this is subject to change. But so far it is Commando Run in Vail. How long have you been racing bikes? This will be my 3rd season. Which squeeky toy will you be riding with this season? Most likely my chain. What is one riding goal for 2008? Log 10,000 miles. [check out the 10,000 mile challenge] What is one racing goal for 2008? To not be to serious about racing and have fun! Since this is my first season in CO, I don't have race specific goals. I can easily become obsessed with riding and racing, so I need to learn when to back off. What is one goal you would like to see the team achieve? I raced for American Cycle and Fitness in MI, and one of my favorite things about our small 5 man team was the relationships. We are all good friends and hung out together outside of riding and racing. It appears RATM already has that, and I would like to see it continue and be apart of it. What is your favorite cycling related product? Bontrager Race XXX lite foam grips. They are just some stupid foam grips, that are easy on the hands, and mad lite. The thing I enjoy most about riding is...the way I feel after a long hard ride. Legs feel like jello, and lungs are on fire. Or the last lap of a race, when you know the pain is almost over. At the beginning of almost every race, I question why I put myself through this, but at the end, the answer is claer Keep up with Shawn's exploits at his blog and make sure you introduce yourself at the next team event if you haven't met him already. Next stay tuned for words from the Clark sisters... |
